Arrival and check-in

  • Check-in is open Sunday July 26. from 12:00 (12 pm) to 18:00 (6 pm) at the latest.
  • When everyone is checked in around 18:00 (6 pm), we will have orientation.
  • At 19:00 (7 pm), dinner is served in the dining room.
  • From around 20:00 (8 pm), we start rigging equipment in the band rooms, and say hello to the group we will be playing with for the rest of the week.

Travels (how to get there)

Agder Folkehøgskole is located about half an hour’s drive from Kristiansand city center. We have rented a bus from the bus station that will pick up participants upon arrival and departure.

You will have to get to the city of Kristiansand, in southern Norway by Sunday July 26.

Here are some useful websites for planning your travel:

  • Local bus schedule in Kristiansand: www.177-agder.no
  • Express bus from Oslo to Kristiansand: Sørlandsekspressen

Arrival Sunday July 26:

We have a shuttle bus from Kristiansand bus station to Agder Folkehøgskole.

The shuttle bus will leave from Kristiansand bus station at approx. 16:15 (4:15 pm). This corresponds with most trains, buses and the Airport Express (this is the last stop on the Airport Express). Please be at the bus station by 16:00 (4 pm).

If you arrive at a different time, your flight is delayed or if you for some reason can’t make the bus after all, we can pick you up. Call Erling Johansen (phone number +47 471 72 216) if you need us to pick you up.

If you get to the school by yourself, make sure you arrive in time. The program starts at 18:00 (6 pm) Sunday July 26.

Departure Sunday August 2:

The shuttle bus will leave from Agder Folkehøgskole at 10:00 (10 am).

If you leave by yourself, you can hang out until lunchtime.

After only a few days, you will feel right at home

Accommodation and meals

The course fee includes accommodation and all meals.

We will be sleeping at the Agder Folkehøgskole dorm, mainly in double rooms. There are a few single rooms for people with particular needs. If you don’t want to bring your own bedding, you can rent for the whole week for NOK 200 (we take care of that upon arrival).

Meals are served in the dining room of the school, with the exception of some special days: Wednesdays we have an outdoor concert with barbecue, and Thursdays we eat shrimp by the sea. Please tell us about any food allergies or intolerances upon registration, or contact us if you need to!

Agder Folkehøgskole is unfortunately not accessible for wheelchair users, as it was built in the 1970s with lots of stairs.

Ensembles every day

Instruments and gear

Everyone needs to bring their own musical equipment, including backline.

The school has acoustic pianos for everyone. We have speaker systems and microphones for the singers, but you’re free to bring your own microphone.

There are also some extra guitar / bass amplifiers and drum sets just in case.

Daily schedule

Each morning at the camp, we’ll post the day’s schedule on the board. You can find a typical schedule and more information about the course structure here.

Tips for packing

  • Remember everything you need to play and learn an instrument for a whole week (instrument, backline, notebooks?)
  • Check the weather forecast. The weather is usually sunny, so it’s a good idea to bring sun protection (sunscreen, hat, sunglasses), a bathing suit and a beach towel.
  • Remember to bring bedsheets if you don’t want to rent for NOK 200 for the week.
